What people say

This is one of the best museums I have visited. I really liked the focus on the contribution of women and the exploitation of Empire and Colonialism. Really brave. The curation, objects, films and storytelling talk of peoples, places and the harsh realities of 19th century industrialisation and the severity of business competition in the 20th century.

Verdant Works Museum – Jo T

Really great museum, a lot of history not just about jute, but working life in Dundee. Amazing tour, very well done. Great experience and would highly recommend this to anybody interested in local and Scottish history. I can imagine this would be a great place for School trips too. Plenty of space and activities for children of all ages.

Verdant Works – Michael S

What a wonderful museum! Full of interest and content supplemented with excellent staff.

Verdant Works Museum – Chris K

Simple fantastic, spent several hours here and should be must do for anyone visiting Dundee. Had a lovely soup and scone in the cafe. A very well presented and interactive museum.

Verdant Works Museum – Mike D

An interesting experience about history of industry, about development of company, which made jute and about difficult and unfair conditions of life workers and their families. Everything is interactive, there are many games for children. You can see original machines, many videos and different models. There is the option of buying souvenirs, drinks in gift shop near to entrance.

Verdant Works Museum – Robert F

I absolutely adore this place. The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. There is so much to see! It’s a haven of information on Dundee’s history of the jute mills. It’s fascinating from beginning to end. It’s worth a visit!
